Tempo, Part 3: Organizational Lifecycles by Matt Moore.
People have lives: we are born, we grow, we change, and we die. But what about organizations?
How do organizations change over time? What do these changes mean for those who work them and for those attempting to manage them?
Are organizational lifecycles speeding up? And what does it mean for us if they are?
How do we deal with organizational endings and the “death” of a collective endeavour?
We’ll be looking at observations and ideas from economists, management theorists, psychologists, and regular people. We’ll be discussing our experiences of organizations at different stages of the lifecycle, how to develop situational awareness of the contexts that we are working in, and what this all means for how we achieve our goals.
Matt Moore has worked in multiple roles and industries over the years (including PwC and Seven West Media). He has been a Visiting Fellow at University of Technology Sydney.
